FAQs and When to Use MOL Products

FAQs and When to Use MOL Products

When to use:
MOL Products should be applied as soon as soil temperatures rise into the mid 40 degree range. Applications should continue throughout the season until soil temperatures drop below the mid 40 degree range. It must be remembered that microbial activity will continue at a slower rate even when the ground freezes.

Early spring green up:
I-MOL, I-MOL R.E., M-MOL, MAG-MOL, and MICRO-MOL will start early spring green-up.

Fall preparation:
MICRO-MOL used in the fall will help provide winter hardiness. Additionally, for cold hardiness in winter several fall applications of K-MOL can be made to help the plant prepare for winter.

Which MOL Product to use? Should I stick with one MOL Product or use different ones throughout the season?
The use of each MOL Product depends on the desired effect that the turf manager strives to achieve. Each MOL Product has a specific use while enhancing microbial activity for thatch reduction. Those specific uses are for supplemental nutrient supplies. For instance, if a soil test shows a deficit in Manganese,
M-MOL can be used and after a season that deficit may be corrected. While a calcium deficit may be more along 100’s of pounds for a soil correction; C-MOL will assist in a supplemental program until that correction takes place. MOL Products were originally designed to provide the following:

1. Increase microbial activity to reduce accumulated organic matter (thatch). The reduced accumulated organic matter results in benefits such as stimulated microbial activity, reduced and managed thatch, stimulated root growth, formation of a humus rich topsoil, improved water penetration and improved leaf color.

2.
I-MOL is designed to enhance plant color to a rich dark green.

3. Benefits of MOL Products have exceeded far beyond our original expectations from the drawing board, so to speak. Each additional season's use compounded the benefits of the healthier soil microbial population(s) fostered by the use of MOL Products. The enhanced microbial populations create a healthier turf in both summer and winter, release natural anti-biotics to reduce disease, and create humus to provide a more aerated soil.

Heat or drought stress and cold weather:
During different times of the season when heat or drought stress is approaching,
K-MOL can be supplemented for a quick potassium source for heat and drought resistance. K-MOL may also be applied for cold hardiness in winter; several fall applications should be made to help the plant prepare for winter. The same can be said for MICRO-MOL depending on soil test recommendations. I-MOL PLUS 2 is also recommended prior to, and during, heat stress periods. Let it be noted that all MOL Products will greatly reduce the stress on the plants.

Soils with high pH values:
Basic soils may have the iron tied up and not available to the plants.
I-MOL should be applied to spark the enzymes in the plant roots and the microbial population. I-MOL will also produce a rich dark green color.

Food For Thought:
It must be kept in mind what Dr. William A. Albrecht said “The plant only gets what the microbes give it.” All nutrients that are applied for plant growth and “soil corrections” must be broken down by microbial activity to be supplied to the plant. These microbial systems enter into symbiotic relationships with roots and plants to supply them with critically needed compounds.

Results you will see:
• A dark green color becomes apparent within 2 to 8 hours and will increase for 24 hours.
• A spurt of growth is noticed after the first several applications.
• An even growth pattern takes place as thatch (organic matter) is reduced and nutrients are supplied from the decomposition of the organic matter.
I-MOL PLUS 2 will also improve root growth, stimulate plant enzymes and help liberate carbon dioxide from soil calcium carbonates and make it available to the plant through the roots for photosynthesis.
• The reduction of localized dry spots will be evident when
I-MOL PLUS 2 is applied from the spring before hot weather. It stimulates seed germination and proliferation of desirable soil micro-organisms.

Can I mix MOL Products with other chemicals I am spraying? If so, what chemicals?
Although we always suggest a "jar test",
Yes. I-MOL can be mixed with other chemicals you are spraying. We have mixed with Daconil Weather Stik, Curalan, Acclaim, Lontrel, Dimension, MCPP, Fore, Dithane, Subdue, Bayleton, Eagle, Thiram.

Note: See individual
product pages for specific uses of each MOL Product.

Using MOL Products in warm temperatures:
• The grass plant will be able to withstand higher temperatures because organic matter is reduced, humus is produced, and water is retained, resulting in a more aerated topsoil for a more resilient turf.
• Natural wetting agents and antibiotics are given off from the microbial population resulting in less stress and disease to the plant.
• Will increase carbohydrates within the plant.
• Will increase carbon in the soil.

Using MOL Products in cold temperatures:
• Cold temperatures is an optimum time to spray MOL Products because you now can achieve a greater reduction in thatch and get ahead for the upcoming Spring.
• Has shown to increase thatch reduction in cold temperatures because less thatch accumulation occurs during this time. (Grass growth has slowed down)
• Grass growth is reduced due to less sunlight and cooler temperatures. MOL products continue feeding the microbes and reducing thatch when it is cold as long as there is sunlight.
• Will increase carbohydrates within the plant.
• Will increases carbon in the soil.
